It’s been a great year and as we start a new year there are several web design trends to keep an eye on. One of the biggest things going into the new year is going to be minimalism. It’s very big right now to have websites that are clean focused and easily able to navigate on all devices. A couple of other features that were popular this year our community based areas and abilities to get discounts and check out on the website.
Listed below are in no particular order the top with design trends of 2018:
- Minimalism – Websites like Apple’s (www.apple.com) and Google’s (www.google.com) and several other top players on the web all have a focus on minimalism in their web design. It’s easy to tell when navigating to their website that it does not have an overwhelming amount of choices and the colors are not overly flashy, everything is somewhat subdued and it gives the visitor an idea of calmness and zen.This is an important trend to focus on going in 2018. To achieve this affect, think about moving cluttered menus to other areas, minamalising the amount of text that might be seen on the homepage and focusing on what the actual message is and what the customer is there to do.What does the customer want to do? Let’s focus on that first and not try to shove every single thing in a page, give every element it’s own home and make the homepage just focus on what the customer is there to do, guiding with clear navigation.
- Community Areas – Having an area where community can interact is becoming more and more popular these days on websites. It may seem to the small business owner, that their website might not need this feature. However, as websites are looking to become more and more dynamic in the future, small business website owners might want to consider adding this.So what does community areas in websites look like? Essentially it’s a forum or an area where customers and visitors can interact, ask questions, interact with the business owner or staff and essentially live and breathe the brand.
- High-quality High-definition Media – It is crucial and most essential to have high-quality, high definition images and video in websites in 2018. This web design trend is one of the most important and as cameras get better, even on our phones, it becomes easier and easier to get high-quality images onto the web.Many small businesses are consulting with local photographers to have them come do photo shoots of their process, their people, their product, the location and move all these high-quality images into their website as well as social media sites. This trend will only continue to surge in 2018 and beyond and become ever ever more important. If your website still doesn’t have video on it or has small pictures that might be considered blurry if blown up larger, you might want to consider upgrading these in the new year.
