Killer Keywords

Have you heard about keywords in relation to web design and search optimization?

Keywords are extremely important to success on the web. In short, keywords are what a customer would use to find your business when searching on platforms like Google and Bing.

For example, if a customer was looking for countertops in Lake Havasu, they would put that into the search engine and businesses like ProStone Source would come up because they have those keywords on their website.

Now it’s a good rule of thumb to try and think of the most dumbed-down version possible when coming up with your keywords. This means, what is the path of least resistance for the customer?

People tend to not want to type a whole lot when they’re in the need of finding something. This translates into it making your keywords short and to the point. Once you have your words in mind it’s a good idea to put them in your page structure titles and throughout the content of that particular page, so that they match up.

The density of the focus words or the amount of times that it appears should be around 2 to 3% of the total words on the page. This might be hard to gauge on your own, but there are plugins for the WordPress platform like SEO Yoast that can do this for you.

It’s a really good idea to brainstorm popular search words with friends and family before setting off to build your website. Also, look at what the competition is using for their words as well.

The more focus and energy you put into your focus words on your website, the better you’re going to do on platforms like Google and Bing. Need help coming up with keywords for your website? Call us at (928) 362-4321 or fill out a contact form located here.
